High Concept Statement

Low-cost opioid dispensing system for acute pain patients to prevent overdose and addiction via password-protected dosage, real-time pain feedback, patient education, and data analysis

 

Status Quo

Doctors write approximately 300 million annual opioid prescriptions, 2.4 million Americans are addicted, and over 45,000 die each year. We are attempting to decrease the risk of opioid addiction caused by over-prescribing, over-usage, and uncontrolled access by both the user and others.

 

Competition

Most solutions to the opioid problem are focused on treatment, not prevention. Regarding prevention, the NIH and CDC recommend that doctors more closely monitor their patients and be more cautious about prescribing and that patients better educate themselves on safe use and disposal. No other system is available to help doctors and patients meet these goals. Our closest competition is simply a locking pill bottle cap which provides no data driven feedback.

 

Solution

Our solution is a low-cost opioid dispensing device and app to prevent acute pain users from becoming addicted through dosage control, interactive patient education, excess pill destruction, and data feedback to doctors on usage patterns. Our system will save insurers and government billions of dollars and thousands of lives.

 

Revenue Model

We will make money by a combination of device/app sales, selling access to our meta-data, and advertising to our targeted community. While this is a business venture, the result of our success will be a combination of profits and lives saved.
