Aux Air – The Napster for Spotify Instagram is to visuals/photography what Aux Air is to audio/music

Need or Demand:

The needs addressed by Aux Air are two-fold Firstly, ever since the digitization of music, an infinite amount of songs have become available, the problem is however, no one knows what to listen to. Audio streaming services have invested millions of dollars in curation and social. Thus, far none of them have taken a lead in curation or developed in an adequate social platform around their streaming services. This app seeks to make listening social by giving listeners access to a world map full of other listeners and real time streams of trusted curators based on geography and popularity. Secondly, it is common knowledge that sonic branding and music is vital to the success of numerous businesses including bars, coffee shops, fitness clubs and others. However, there is no way for these businesses to gain insights into the listening habits of their customers and use this information effectively. Aux Air will change that by offering data insights on listeners catered towards small and medium businesses.

Product / Service / Solution:

Aux Air provides two major solutions/services: 1. Firstly, ever since the digitization of music, an infinite amount of music has become available, the problem is, no one knows what to listen to. This app aims to change this by being music lovers most popular and comprehensive social platform for discovery and sharing around the world. Furthermore, it allows users to build up public profile and develop a fanbase around their personal curation. 2. Secondly, it is common knowledge that sonic branding and music is vital to the success of numerous small to medium sized businesses including bars, coffee shops, fitness centers, clothing stores, clubs and many others (http://www.musichasvalue.ca/news-and-studies/). However, there is no way for these businesses to gain insights into the listening habits of their customers and use this information effectively. Aux Air will offer “Business Membership” tier for businesses concerned with building their sonic branding and collecting data on the creative tastes and other relevant data of their listeners.

Value Proposition:

The Primary value is that we will create the number 1 place people go to discover new music and connect with the musical community both locally and globally. Our initial users are expected to be people who are music lovers. People keen on finding new music and form or have relationships based around music. Our customers are companies interested in advertising via radio (except we offer more data on their listeners) and small and medium size businesses interested in data insights about their listeners.

Competition:

Primary Competition: Airtime, Tastebuds, Gnoosic, Lost, Lisn, Soundshare, PlugDj, Vertigo, Wavo and Wavelength My solution is preferred because none of these applications provide a genuinely social experience leading to discovery. Firstly, having tested and used these applications, they all fail to foster an environment like Instagram where one initially logs to see what their friends/trusted curators are up to/seeing (in this case listening to what friends or trusted curated are listening to) but are then encouraged to get lost and wander the digital world based on their interests. Aux Air seeks to create this type of environment for music. Secondly, having an authentic social network around music will be far superior to the echo-chamber that is created by pure algorithmic curation which some of the competition operates on. That is, by creating a community of people sharing and discovering great music globally guided by the best curators. This void of authentic global curation will be filled through offering a platform that allows users to discover content and other users based on geography and popularity in real time. Unlike competitors, Aux Air is a tool which marries trusted social networks and curators with authentic discovery to bring users the music they will love.

Revenue Model:

1. Add based revenue from companies looking for exposure to our listeners. This is the 17 billion dollars spent annually on radio adversing except Aux Air can provide more specifications about listeners.

2. The “Business Account”. This is an account for users which provides data packages containing customer insights valuable to medium and small businesses. For example, through the “Business Account” a nightclub may find that when they are playing a specific artist at a certain time at night they receive a particularly high number of female listeners living in the Brooklyn area aged between 26-30. With this information they may then book this artist and target a marketing campaign towards this demographic. The “Business Account” is offered on a yearly or monthly basis at a very small fee.
