High Concept Statement
Uber for books. Book sharing platform that allows users to rent their expensive textbooks many times for a fraction of the retail price to other students who need the book for a short period of time
College Textbooks are incredibly expensive. They cost students hundreds of dollars every semester even when they rent them, or only need to use them for a couple of chapters. Students who have books, on the other hand, don’t have an efficient mechanism to share their books
Bookstores are trying to address the high costs for textbooks by trying to offer used books, as well as renting options. The fact and the matter is that prices are still very high for many students to bear. Our primary competition would be certain book sharing platforms that are trying to build a network of book readers that share books with one another
customers will prefer our service because it is cheaper, and more efficient. Current book sharing platforms rely on international transportation of books, whereas we match the book lenders and borrowers based on location.
Just like Uber, we take a percentage of the revenue made by the book renters when they rent their books to other students.
