High Concept Statement
Social network that inspires conversation among true friends by starting conversations based on news outlets you both enjoy. Friend limit to 150 to foster a safe environment not “Facebook friends”
There is a strong correlation between use of social media and depression. However on text-heavy platforms (Twitter/Facebook), levels are higher than on Instagram. This is because pictures are more intimate. I want to make it even more intimate by fostering actual conversations and making social media social, not just a time waster.
Big social networks like Facebook, Instagram etc. But also smaller networks that try to get people to meet in person like Diner (tries to get people to meet for lunch). The closest attempt to addressing this issue is Instagram and Facebook adding “stories” to their platforms to have a closer/more intimate environment.
It’s a new solution (don’t need to delete all those 7th grade friends you don’t care about anymore). We provide a medium between staying online and meeting in person. Try talking online first and then meeting in person or continuing conversations in person.
Advertisements only on the message platform (similar to Quora so users aren’t bombarded with ads the entire time). Selling data to news sites to see what millennials are interested in and which headlines lead to more conversations.
