High Concept Statement
Food recommending app customized by dietary needs, showing nutrition facts and nearest availability based on user location. Recommendations based on curated database from scientific publications.
Status Quo
As people get health conscious and aware of ingredients’ effects, food requirements demand customization. Patients struggle to follow dietary needs and few people get time to cook or search for suitable diet. This app eliminates the above problems. With nutrition facts and trusted resources, users can be assured of meeting their needs anywhere.
Competition
The closest competition is firms like Blue Apron that encourage users to cook at home as per dietary needs. However, that is limited to dishes offered each week. We capitalize by suggesting users food items available in their vicinity that meet their dietary needs.
Remote competitors are companies like Seamless. But they do not tell users if a dish meets their diet. We take that burden out of the equation when a user is hungry.
Solution
The user needs can be fulfilled by providing a reliable source to meet their dietary needs and stay on course with their health goal, even while traveling. Since the data is published in scientific journals and backed by research, doctor’s would be confident in their patient’s using this app.
Revenue Model
Since this idea is at a preliminary stage, I believe the revenue model would be 2-tiered. One, users would pay nominal fees for annual subscriptions (since many patients with special needs/health-conscious people already pay for fitness apps). Two, grocery stores and restaurants would pay for advertisements promoting their health-conscious/special diet offerings.
