High Concept Statement

Fight the news cycle

Status Quo

You come across a news story that piques your interest. You care just enough to want to read follow-up, but not so much that you Google for updates every day. Within days, it fizzles away. Remember #freeCyntoiaBrown? #banBumpStocks? Where are they now?

Competition

There was a website with a similar concept, http://www.newstrapper.com/, but it stopped updating 3 years ago. News apps and social media are great at breaking news, but terrible at sticking with them. Every effort that tries to keep a news story within our horizon fizzles within days.

Solution

Follow news stories you care about via hashtags and receive updates. Uncover your full power as a citizen: learn who to contact, what bills to advocate for and against. Don’t let the media dictate your attention span. Together we can fight the news cycle.

Revenue Model

As we reach more followers we will start having a membership model, where members can track an unlimited amount of news stories and non-members can track up to 3 stories at the same time. At the current experimenting phase, StickyNews will be completely free to everyone as we develop it to optimize user engagement. Our social impact will be tracked by seeing how people’s interest in a single news story develops over time, and we will be constantly updating our features and finding ways for everyone to become active, responsible news consumers.
