Touchpoint
High Concept Statement
Touchpoint is your key to everything. It gives you access to your dorm, your apartment, and anything else that may require an id or card for. Forget your ID card at home? No problem, Touchpoint is here.
Status Quo
Our solution will give app users the key to any door. The main problem we’re solving is access to Touchpoint-enabled areas under one unified application. Areas can include WeWork spaces, dorms, homes, apartments.
Competition
One direct competitor is Token, a ring that allows you to access buildings, pay, and sign in (on a laptop) via touch. However, the Token ring costs $249 to buy and is still in development. Other competition may include proprietary virtual doorman apps, such as ButterflyMX. There is no specific application that accomplishes the task we are seeking to accomplish that we know of.
Solution
Our application allows users to collect all of their digital keys in one place. They will be able to sign into a WeWork without their ID, they will be able to enter their buildings (given the building uses ButterflyMX & other virtual doormen) and potentially dorms via one mobile application. We would like to expand the application to include blockchain technology (for security) and to provide access to meal swipes and other university features (so students can, for example, swipe via their phone). Ultimately, this can be applied in large office buildings as well mobile access-sharing will be enabled (so friends can grant access to their building via the application)
Revenue Model
Although we do not plan to monetize in the first stages of development, our main source of income in the future will come from subscription fees from buildings/access points in exchange for providing them with our application services. In other words, if you want your door to open with Touchpoint, you will need to pay a small subscription fee (up to $49 a month or per user, to be decided). We may also monetize using in-app banner ads, although this is an option that is still under consideration.
