Venmo + Meetup for airline seat swaps

Status Quo

Airline companies and passengers share the same frustration when trying to coordinate seats. Airlines waste time and money trying to satisfy customers that request an occupied seat. Passengers who get rejected by the airlines to switch seats are left with no alternative seat assignment.

Social seating for airline travel is not new, however most companies have not reached market adoption because they do not completely fulfill customer needs. All competitors either focus independently on the utility component (buying and selling seats) like Seateroo, or the social component (adding Facebook and LinkedIn to find mutual connections at the airport) like Meet&Seat.

Flying Domestic or International can be lonely, chaotic, boring or even scary. Pivot gives passengers the opportunity to swap seats, earn a profit per flight and sit with who they want all from their mobile device. Passengers now can maximize flying time due to reduced frustration and greater productivity.

Revenue Model

Pivot is a free app with multiple pricing options for users where an algorithm chooses a minimum bid that increases as flight day/time approaches. Users are subject to a transaction fee with a monthly subscription option for catering to frequently fliers.
